The Cherokee Strip Adventure

This documentary is the only one of it’s kind.

On September 16, 1893 over 100,000 people made America’s last great run for free government land. The area was called the Cherokee Strip and is a part of the State of Oklahoma. The participants raced for free land in an area larger than the states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont or Rhode Island. The Cherokee Strip was comprised of over 7,000,000 acres, or 11,000 square miles, and each person ran to claim a free 160 acre land parcel.

September 16, 1993 culminated a year-long celebration in many communities of Oklahoma’s Cherokee Strip. The Cherokee Strip Centennial celebration included land run re-enacments, an authentic cattle drive, a Centennial train ride, parades and festivals in every area of the Cherokee Strip.
